Antonette was born and raised in the Philippines. She completed her degree in Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Sacred Heart College in 1998. When she moved to the United States , she pursued her education and earned her degree in Masters of Science in Nursing as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, AZ.
Prior to joining NVCPC, she had practiced as an emergency room nurse for 19 years. She was also an adjunct faculty for nursing program at one of the universities in Las Vegas, NV.
Antonette is a member of good standing of Emergency Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, and American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She holds national certification as an acute care nurse practitioner through American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Antonette is married. On her free time, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending outdoor activities with family and friends.
Markin was born and raised in Accra, Ghana, a West African British Colony. Her father was an engineer who was a graduate at Birmingham University in London, and her mother a successful entrepreneur. From a very young age her parents instilled in her the value of education and hard work. She furthered her education in on of the most prestigious Methodist boarding schools in West Africa(Wesley Girls Boarding School). Her love for medicine was inculcated early with her own close encounters with childhood ailments and her uncle who is a Heart surgeon in Bosnia.
After Boarding school, Rebecca graduated from Chico State University with her Bachelors of Science degree and became a board-certified Physician Assistant from Touro University in 2014. Rebecca discovered her true passion for pain management and dermatology while working in the Emergency room.
When not at work Rebecca finds time for her passions which mostly includes her family, photography, knitting, tennis and her new quest, obtaining her aviation license. Her zest for learning and her sharp wit make her a great asset to the practice.
Kevin Thorn is a certified Physician Assistant originally from Montana, and has been practicing medicine in Las Vegas since 1992. He went to Nursing school and graduated from Montana State University in 1991. He practiced nursing for seven years in Coronary Care and Emergency Medicine. In 2001, he expanded his training by attending the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and graduated in 2001 with a Degree in Physician Assistant studies. Kevin has practiced for the past 15 years, in a multiple specialties, such as family medicine, internal medicine, endocrinology, urgent care, and pain management.
Lauren is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner who was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2012. She continued her education and earned her Master of Science in Nursing Degree with Distinct Honors at Chamberlain College of Nursing in Addison, Illinois.
She holds national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) and is an active member of the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society.
In Lauren’s free time, she enjoys running, swimming, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Darlyn earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Rutgers University and practiced as a critical care nurse for ten years. She decided to pursue her graduate studies and earned her Master of Science in nursing degree from the University of Cincinnati, becoming an adult nurse practitioner.
Darlyn is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and is board certified by the American National Credentialing Center.
Crystal Huffaker, FNP-C was born and raised in Provo, Utah and attended her undergraduate studies in Nursing at Brigham Young University and furthered her training by obtaining a Master of Science Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner where she was Valedictorian of her class.
Crystal has practiced in Utah and Idaho as a Family Nurse Practitioner for six years as well as living in Palau for one of those years; while her husband was furthering training in the field of engineering.
Crystal is married with three small children and enjoys hiking, scuba diving, yoga and spending time with her family in her free time.
Joshua was born in Utah and raised in Montana and attended his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University where he majored in Biology. Following that he earned his Physician Assistant Masters in West Virginia. Joshua has worked as a Pain Management Physician Assistant since 2007 and is extremely well versed in the evaluation of acute and chronic pain patients, performing injection therapy as well as medication management.
Joshua has traveled to El Salvador where he completed his two year LDS Mission and at that time learned to speak fluent Spanish.
Joshua is married with four children and is extremely active with his two boys and 2 girls in school and sports activities as well as Eagle Scouts with his boys.
Joshua is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is Certified by the National Commission of Physician Assistants.
Ethel Smith, FNP-C is a Certified Nurse Practitioner who graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Master’s in Science in Nursing. Since graduating a FNP-C she has worked at several medical facilities in both Cincinnati, Ohio and Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to moving to Las Vegas, Ethel was on facility at the University of Cincinnati where she taught pediatric nursing. Ethel is married and has two daughters. On her free time off from practicing at NVCPC, she enjoys reading and is an avid traveler.
Ethel is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association.
Shawna Tibbetts, PA-C
Board Certified Physician Assistant
Shawna Tibbetts graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in pre-med and Health Education. She received her post graduate physician assistant training at Western University of Health Sciences graduating at the top of her class.
Since graduating from PA School, she has worked many years in Internal Medicine, Family Practice and Orthopedics before joining Dr. Coppel in 2011. She has a particular interest in addiction medicine.
Shawna is married with twins. On her off time she enjoys riding and showing horses as well as reading and spending time with her kids and helping at their school.
Shawna is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
