The holidays are a time for being with family, relaxing, and making those memories that we’ll reflect on for years to come. Pain, however, is never mindful of the day or the week. Often, with the stress of keeping up with the general merriment and being constantly “on,” we can create pain flare-ups in days to come.
Remember to listen to your body today and take the day slow if you need to. Find new activities that you can join in with less pain. Take a break and know that your loved ones will be waiting when you get back.
Or, create new traditions for this holiday season, like:
- Play a family game of Scrabble or Pictionary with mugs of hot cocoa in hand
- Design a beautiful and cozy spot to relax while watching the kids open gifts
- Start a White Elephant gift exchange so each person has less to buy (and wrap!) for
A beautiful holiday season is one where we all do what we can do today and savor the moments that we do have.
From all of us at Nevada Comprehensive Pain Center, we wish you the warmest and happiest holidays with ample time with family and friends. We also extend our deepest gratitude out to you–our patients, our community, and our friends–for being dedicated to our mission of changing lives.
