It’s very unlikely to become addicted to narcotic pain medication. There is a very small sub-set of patients that will unfortunately become addicted to these medications just like any other vice weather it would be tobacco, alcohol or gambling or other things like that.
We do keep a very close eye on patients. We do use low dose medications in our practice. We don’t believe in high dose medications. By keeping a close eye on patients, by using other treatment modalities such as the therapies, injections and surgeries and by using the low dose medications we are able to diminish the amount of risk factors someone has to develop an addiction to these medications.
